Mumbai, 12th April 2021: Gudi Padwa is not only celebrated in Maharashtra but also all over India by different names and cultures. It is a very auspicious day in the Hindu calendar and marks the springtime festival as well as the beginning Maharashtrian New Year. Actress Utkarsha Naik, who is currently seen in Dangal TV’s Prem Bandhan shares what makes the festival one of her favourites and its significance in her life.
Utkarsha says, “We celebrate Gudi Padwa with all things present at home. The Gudi is tied to the stick with the vessel on the top, a silk saree is draped around the stick with a garland of flowers and battasha (a sweet). A mango leaf is also placed on the vessel. It’s mandatory to use a silk cloth as it marks to be lucky and auspicious. I place the Gudi on my balcony and prepare sweet like Shrikhand, which I love during this festival.”
Sharing one of her favourite memory, she says, “When I was young, we had a big courtyard where we used to have a Gudi competition to see who’s Gudi is the prettiest. It was a healthy competition and it was a lot of fun. I still remember and cherish those days. Gudi Padwa is a festival of joy and happiness. Due to the pandemic, I would want everyone to celebrate this auspicious festival at their respective homes, do not go out, be safe and have fun.”
Utkarsha Naik wishes everyone Happy and a Safe Gudi Padwa.
