In real life, I am the pampered one – Monika Chauhan

Monika Chauhan

Mumbai, 2 March 2021: Hailing from Shimla, Monika Chauhan won a pageant contest in her state before she tried her hand in acting and moved to Mumbai. Even though she always wanted to become an actor, she didn’t know how to make it big in the industry but her pageant has now helped her get shows back-to-back. She is currently seen in Dangal TV’s Ranju Ki Betiyaan as Ranju’s (Reena Kapoor) eldest daughter. After taking the traditional route and auditioning for multiple roles, Monika has finally made her place in the industry.

Her recent role, Shalu has already garnered a lot of love from the audience and when asked about her character and the differences between them, she said, “One of the major differences between me and Shalu is that Shalu is the eldest amongst her sisters. She is like a mother figure and has to take care of them. But in real life, I am the youngest sibling and have 2 elder sisters who pamper me a lot. Well, Shalu also rides a scooty which I didn’t know to ride. (laughs) I am learning to do that with every scene. Otherwise, Shalu and Monika are very similar. Their thoughts, way of dealing with situations and positive outlook towards life is very similar. And both Shalu and I are very sorted in their thoughts.”

She says her reel sisters consider her like an elder sister and call her ‘Shalu Didi’ even off-screen. She says she is loving the bond she has with Roopal Tyagi, Aarushi Sharma and Adiba Hussain and is excited for the journey ahead.

Ranju Ki Betiyaan is a heart touching story of a single mother Ranju and her struggles of raising 4 daughters in a patriarchal society. It delves into the various societal issues faced by single mothers, and will witness Ranju empowering herself to raise her four daughters single-handedly to help them achieve their dreams. Catch Ranju Ki Betiyaan at 9.30pm only on Dangal TV.
